Praha - MP for the Green Party Olga Zubová wrote an open letter addressed to US President-elect Barack Obama, asking him to review the US stance on the planned military radar base on Czech soil.

"For the Czech Republic you as the new President of the United States are bringing hope to three quarters of the Czech population who, in recent polls, have repeatedly stated their disagreement with the intented bilateral missile denfence treaty to station the radar base on Czech soil, which is to be ratified in the near future by Czech parliament," says Zubová in her letter, the copy of which Aktualne.cz has available.

"There is a common belief shared by many Czechs that it is you who can guarantee a peace solution, a democratic dialogue and the prevention of useless tension escalation," says the letter.

Zubová also expressed her hope that Obama would advance "further positive development of NATO security policy which is largely based on a general consensus."
