State administration modernization underway

Prague - Nine ministries instead of fourteen. That is the proposal of a government administration reform which is going to be introduced today by eState civic association, engaged in an administration modernization project.

"We want this proposal to be discussed first by experts and eventually by the public this year. That's why we have sent it to the representatives of all the parties in the Lower Chamber," informed Edvard Kožušník, one of the eState founders, in his blog at Aktualne.cz.

"It was addressed to party leaders Martin Bursík, Jiří Čunek, Vojtěch Filip, Jiří Paroubek and Mirek Topolánek," assured Kožušník who is also the chief of the Senate head's office.

The reform draft is aimed at "adapting the structure of the ministries and central bodies to modern requirements for state governing, improving the effectivity of management through simplification and transparency, stressing appropriate coordination and abolishing all activities that are not required anymore after privatization and decentralization of the central bodies of administration," explained Kožušník in his blog.

According to eState, in addition to the central Office of the Government there should be ministries of economy, finances, foreign affairs, environment, education and culture, health care, social affairs, justice, and interior.
